What we won't do
We won't pour on a frozen or soft subgrade to hold a schedule. We won't skip or thin the stone base to win on price. And if two panels are the problem, you'll get a price for two panels, not a whole new driveway.
How we work
- We come out before we price it. Grade, drainage, access for the truck and what's under the old slab all change the job. A number given over the phone is a guess.
- The estimate is in writing, with the specs. Thickness, base, reinforcement, joint layout, finish and tear-out are listed, so you can compare it with anyone else's line by line.
- We pull the right-of-way permit when your job needs one. In West Lafayette that's anything at the street: the apron, the curb cut, the public walk.
- We tell you when to wait. If the forecast or the season is wrong for your pour, we'd rather move the date than pour into a freeze.
- We clean up. On replacements, the old concrete is broken out and hauled off as part of the job.
How we build
The short version: compacted base, the right thickness for what parks on it, air-entrained concrete, steel held up where it does some good, joints cut on time, and footings below the frost line. The driveway page lays it out item by item.
Who we are
West Lafayette Concrete Contractors is a local flatwork crew based in Greater Lafayette, Indiana. We pour the concrete people use every day: driveways, patios, front walks, steps, garage floors, and the slabs under sheds, shops and pole barns.
We work the whole city and county, from the older streets near campus to farms out on the county roads. The ground here is mostly slow-draining silt over glacial till, and the winters bring plenty of freeze-thaw, so the way we build is about the base, the drainage and the mix as much as the finish.
