A town on the county line
Otterbein sits right on the line between Benton and Tippecanoe counties. Most of the town is in Bolivar Township in Benton County, and the east edge, including the industrial park, is in Shelby Township in Tippecanoe County. US 52 runs along the north side of town, and the farmland starts where the streets end.
That line matters for concrete, because it decides whose permit rules apply. Inside town limits, Otterbein has its own building code. Outside town, it's Benton County on one side and Tippecanoe County on the other. Tell us the address when you call, and check with the office below before you plan around anything.
What we pour around Otterbein
In town, it's the usual work around a house: driveways, garage floors, walks, steps and patios. Out on the farms and acreage, it's bigger slabs and longer pours, where the base and the thickness matter more than the finish.
- Pole barn and shop floorsBarn floors, shop slabs, equipment pads and garage floors, thickened where the weight sits.$6 to $11per sq ft
- Long drives and parking padsDrives from the road to the house or the barn, turnarounds and pads for trailers and campers.$6 to $11per sq ft
- PatiosBack patios, grill pads and the walk out to them, pitched to drain away from the house.$6 to $11per sq ft
- Sidewalks and stepsFront walks, stoops and steps, with footings below the frost line.$7 to $17per sq ft, walks
- Removal and replacementOld slabs that have cracked, sunk or heaved, broken out, hauled off and poured new.+$1.20 to $1.90per sq ft to remove

Pouring on farms and acreage
Rural jobs come down to three things: getting the truck in, the ground under the slab, and what the slab has to carry. A loaded concrete truck is heavy, so a soft field lane or a culvert at the road can decide where it parks and how far the concrete has to travel. Ground that's been farmed or filled needs the topsoil stripped and a compacted stone base, or the slab settles. And a barn floor that will carry equipment needs more thickness and reinforcement than a garage floor that only sees a car.
We'll talk through all three when we come out to look, and it'll all be written on the estimate.
